Ridge League of Cities Executive Director Bobby Green was the Keynote Speaker at the Polk State College Student Government Association (SGA) Leadership Workshop.  Representatives from the various college clubs and activity boards were all in attendance.  Green spoke of his time in local government as both, an appointed and elected official.  He suggested the students consider local government as a career choice, noting that most students know very little about local government, and even less about the roles of management in local government.  Several policy issues were discussed, and how young people have participated in the process and made a difference.  He encouraged the students to engage local government with the same energy that they bring to their leadership roles on campus.  Green told the group, “Local government needs you”.    

Other break out sessions focused on “What is Leadership”, “Time Management”, and “Diversity and Inclusion”.  The event was held on Friday January 20, 2023 on the Winter Haven Campus.
