The Ridge League of Cities is pleased to welcome Florida League of Cities President Holly D. Smith to our September Membership Dinner Meeting in Lakeland.  President Smith will administer the Oath of Office to the Ridge League officers and Board of Directors.

Prior to her Council service, she was a member of the Sanibel Planning Commission for eight years.  A dedicated public servant, Smith has held numerous leadership and liaison roles at the local, regional, and state levels. She serves as Sanibel’s representative to the Lee County Tourist Development Council, Coalition of Mayors, and as the Governor’s Appointee on the Federal South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force.   As the 2025-2026 President of the Florida League of Cities, Smith is the first to serve as FLC President from the Southwest Florida region.

She also serves on or chairs multiple FLC committees, including the Advocacy Committee, the Legislative Policy Committee, Federal Action Strike Team, and is Sanibel’s Voting Delegate to the National League of Cities. Smith has been recognized as a Florida League of Cities Home Rule Hero every year since 2018 for her advocacy on behalf of local governments. In 2023, she received the Florida League’s prestigious E. Harris Drew Municipal Official Lifetime Achievement Award.

In August 2025, she took the helm of the Florida League of Cities as president.   Welcome President Smith and thank you for joining us in the Ridge League!
