The John Land Years of Service Award is named in honor of longtime Apopka Mayor John Land, who served his city for more than 60 years. Each year at their Annual Conference, the Florida League of Cities recognizes elected officials who have reached a milestone of 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, or 50 years of elected service on a City Council/Commission. Elected officials recognized through this program receive a resolution and lapel pin marking their years of service. The Ridge League of Cities congratulates Mulberry Commissioner Collins “Coach” Smith (25 Years), Plant City Commissioner Mary Thomas-Mathis (25 Years), and Bartow Commissioner Leo Longworth for his 30 years of service. These municipal officials will be recognized at the 2026 Florida League of Cities Annual Conference being held in Hollywood, FL. Congratulations!
