The Ridge League of Cities was pleased to welcome Florida League of Cities President Michale Blake to our September Membership Dinner Meeting in Zolfo Springs. President Blake grew up in Cocoa, Florida and has been a resident of Cocoa his entire life. He was first elected to the Cocoa City Council in 1998 and served through 2001. He was first elected Mayor in 2004 and served two terms until 2012. He was reelected as a Councilman in 2014 and served until June 2016. He was reelected as Mayor in November 2020 and currently serves in that position.
Michael Blake has served as a member of the Cocoa Community Redevelopment Agency as liaison to the Cocoa Housing Authority, Weed and Seed, and Save our Neighborhood organizations. He has also served on various other city boards, committees, and task forces. Mayor Blake retired from teaching at Cocoa High School in 2022. He was a prior President of the Space Coast League of Cities and is a current member of the Florida Municipal Insurance Trust Board of Directors. He has served on the Florida Leagues of Mayors Board of Directors, and in August 2024, took the helm of the Florida League of Cities as president.
