The 2023 Ridge League of Cities Speaker Series continues on March 9, 2023 at the March Membership Dinner in Bartow.  The Ridge League welcomes Workforce Development and Strategic Planner David Douglas.

David Douglas has been a leader in the areas of workforce development and strategic planning for 20+ years. His passion is helping leaders at all levels achieve their highest potential. He has spoken at International conferences and is recognized as a Master Trainer by the Association for Talent Development and is a Global Certified Strengths Coach by the Gallup organization. He is a lifelong resident of Auburndale.

David is an outdoor adventure seeker to the core. From an early age, he developed the nick name “crazy Dave” because there was almost nothing he wouldn’t do or try. In his early 20’s he developed a love of mountain climbing and went on to successfully summit many peaks in the western US including Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuksan, and Grand Teton. He has also spent time in Europe hiking many of the hut-to-hut trails in the French and Swiss Alps. During this time, he completed 3 full marathons and several half marathons. If you ask David today, he has no regrets for doing any of these things, even if they are the reason he has bad knees.

Hiking in the National Park System and snow skiing are his adventures these days. David loves nothing more than to hear about others adventures and believes that spending time outdoors does wonders to clear the mind and body of daily stresses.

He has three favorite quotes that he uses to navigate our busy world:

“Clarity affords focus.”

“A challenge well defined is half solved.”

“As leaders our job is not to lead the horse to water, and it certainly isn’t to make it drink. Our job is to create the thirst.”
